Tous les lundis, mon ami le dessinateur de presse Ysope (http://ysope.over-blog.net) et moi-même avons pris l'habitude de nous retrouver pour une "réunion" ! Nous commençons cette réunion par un bon déjeuner, puis poursuivons devant une noisette dans l'un des cafés où nous avons nos habitudes. Nous échangeons alors pendant une heure sur le travail de chacun, chacun montrant à l'autre ce qu'il fait cette semaine. Nous parlons métier, parlons technique, et travaillons ainsi "en miroir" pendant une heure. Bien que nos activités et nos styles soient très différents, ces échanges s'avèrent très enrichissants, et c'est un rendez-vous que nous n'aimons pas manquer !
Aujourd'hui, je ne savais pas trop quoi faire. Je n'avais rien de prévu. J'en ai donc profité pour retravailler sur mon concept de Tarzan ! Je voulais qu'on voit d'avantage la chute d'eau sur le bas de l'image, et que l'ensemble soit plus vertigineux. Voici le résultat. En fait, ça n'est pas assez vertigineux par rapport à ce que je voulais. Pas vertigineux du tout en fait. Mais le recul et l'abaissement de la caméra a permis d'ouvrir l'espace et de rendre l'ensemble moins étouffant. La jungle apparait même dans toute sa majesté et son gigantisme, au regard d'un personnage plus petit.
J'encrerai ce dessin pour voir ce que ça peut donner, et je vous montrerai ça très bientôt. Je n'abandonne pas non plus mon idée d'un plan plus vertigineux, avec une chute d'eau beaucoup plus haute, et si possible tout un tas de trucs qui nous viendraient dans les yeux :)

Every monday, my friend the newspaper cartoonist Ysope (http://ysope.over-blog.net) and myself are used to have a kind of "meeting" ! We start by a good lunch, and go ahead with a good coffee "noisette", in a coffee where we have our habits. During one hour, we chat and talk about each other's work, showing to each other what we have to do this week, and we talk business, technique, working "as mirrors". Though our activities and styles are quite different, these meetings are very useful for each of us, and we would not miss one !
Today, I did not know what to do. Nothing was on the schedule. So I decided to work on my Tarzan illustration concept again ! I wanted to make a better view of the waterfall, on the bottom of the pic, and to obtain something more vertiginous. Here is the result. Well, it's not vertiginous enough in comparison to what I wanted, not vertiginous at all in fact. But to make the camera move back and down has permitted to open the space and to make the whole pic less claustrophobic. Jungle even appears in all her majesty and highness, in comparison to a smaller character.
I will ink this one to see what it can give, and I'll show it to you soon. I don't give up the idea of something more vertiginous, with a higher waterfall, and if possible, a lot of things poping out to our eyes :)
